Capture
Branch or Teller Check Capture involves
creating an image of the check at the point of presentation.
Where allowed, the physical document can then be destroyed,
leaving the image to be processed by the banking system
in the same way that the paper document would have been.
There are several advantages to this:
- The electronic image of the item is easier, quicker
and cheaper to transport around the banking system.
- Check processing can be performed at remote locations
and at any convenient time.
- Document sort, archive, search and retrieval are
far easier with electronic images than with paper.
- Fewer transports are required, as the multiple passes
are not required for fine sort.
- Value-added services can be developed for customers,
such as returning item images on CD/DVD-ROM for example.
- Security measures can be performed on-line in real
time at the point of presentation, minimising exposure
to fraud.
Aperta’s Active-image Teller Capture
module allows image-enabled document truncation, with additional
security features.
Images are captured on small counter-top
units. These can be positioned at each teller position,
shared between two tellers or as a back office facility.
At the teller position checks are run through as they are
presented. An image of both sides of the check can be captured,
and through intelligent character recognition software all
the relevant detail from the check can be obtained.
Data contained in MICR, OCR and barcodes
can be captured. In addition, Image Character Recognition
(ICR) can be used to read courtesy amounts, as well as other
data from the check.
Aperta’s AiTC module is easily integrated
into existing infrastructure:
- It is independent from the branch teller system,
offering a higher return on investment, as it does not
need to be replaced if the teller system is upgraded.
- It can be configured to work in a variety of ways
to suit local conditions.
- AiTC accommodates a wide range of scanners from a
variety of manufacturers, allowing seamless integration
with existing systems. AiTC can accommodate scanners
from different manufacturers in the same network, thereby
allowing maximum use of legacy hardware.
- AiTC runs in Windows®, offering familiar and
easy to use GUI, minimising operator training.
In summary, Aperta’s Active-image
Teller Capture Module provides these benefits:
- Easy and seamless integration into existing bank teller
systems
- Superior security and automation for the processing
of mixed deposits, cash deposits utility payments and
other transactions
- A wide range of scanning equipment to be used, depending
on bank requirement
- Capture of MICR, OCR, barcode and Image Character
Recognition data
- Check data in a form that can be easily processed
or archived by other bank applications
- Advanced security features to minimise fraud on checks.
